Tuesday whimsy

If fear had a Beaufort scale ... Force 12 might have abated to a Force 9.

... and feeling stronger for having felt the Force 12 ... perhaps even for the very fact of the embarkation a month ago.

"Under the best of conditions, a voyage is one of the severest tests to try a man"
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

... that combined with something about 'anyone can stand by the helm in calm' ... can't remember who wrote it.

  1. James, it's good to hear you're going to live to fight another day, another day after that, and so forth and so on. Sorry I didn't make it across Bass Strait for your special Thursday night shindig, I could have used your tips on driving a sea kayak, high winds and lots of chop scared the shit out of me on my second day on the Derwent last weekend. Love John S.

  2. Just want you (and Kim) to know that I'm with you in spirit. There's not much that I feel I can do for you, other than to pray in my non-god way that everything will be alright. A walk at Merrick's Beach one evening would be nice, as you suggested that day I saw you at the real estate agent's when you were looking terrible and I didn't realise what was going on. I know you said there were no peripheral friends, but could you make an exception? Not in terms of how I feel about you guys but just how hopeless I am at making time for you. My love and thoughts are with you front and centre. XX Ginny
